In a poll taken early this morning, it was determined that 60% of the Senate’s voting members don’t give a damn what the American people want.

The poll was taken in the Senate, has a margin of error of +40%, and was responsible for the passage of sweeping health care legislation.

A second, similar poll will be taken again soon, though the results are expected to be largely the same.

In other news, due to the fact that respondents answers were bought and paid for, the poll is clearly corrupt, and its finding may be found unconstitutional for any number of reasons.

Other findings in the poll?

60% of Senators don’t care about the federal budget deficit.
60% of Senators don’t care about State budget deficits.
60% of Senators don’t care if they raise the cost of health care.
60% of Senators don’t care if the quality of health care in the U.S. declines.
60% of Senators don’t care about trampling religious freedom if your faith is anti-abortion.
60% of Senators are in favor of $400 billion in new taxes.
60% of Senators think that, despite record deficits, the debt ceiling is too low.

Make no mistake, this poll has deeply angered the U.S. population, which other polls suggest will retaliate in November.

Merry Christmas To All….

santa

I wanted to take a moment to thank those of you who read this site for giving me six months that have surpassed all expectations.  This blog began as the ramblings of an ordinary guy who had become fed up with seeing his country piddle away its freedom.  Since May, The Robalution has gone from literally no readership at all to thousands of people daily, and the numbers continue to grow.

As a result, I’ve been invited to be a contributer over at Tucker Carlson’s new website, The Daily Caller.  After what seems like an eternity, it will launch January 11th, so be sure to check it out.  Of course, when I have pieces over there, I’ll be sure and let you know here.

With that out of the way…

Barring a miracle, Harry Reid will summon his 60 Senatorial criminals to a late Christmas Eve vote.  They will ignore the wishes of the American people, who overwhelmingly oppose them, and they’ll pass a bill that will:

Place caps on the profits of private U.S. corporations.
Ignore Senate Rules by including measures that, as written, are irrevocable.
Fly in the face of the Constitution by forcing Americans to buy something.
Establish a precedent that will eventually allow the federal government to control nearly every facet of your life.

It has been bought and paid for through bribery.

With it, socialists, thieves, and thugs from the White House and both houses of Congress have likely placed this nation on a path toward revolution.  Perhaps not armed revolution but, at the very least, it’s easy to forsee disobedience on a massive scale.  Too many people are too angry.  Something’s going to give….

So, this Christmas, say a prayer for your country, remember your troops, and brace yourself.  Things are about to get interesting.

Merry Christmas.

Rasmussen: Obama At Another New Low

According to Rasmussen, today we find President Obama at yet another approval low – 44%

The poll shows that almost half (46%) of U.S. voters strongly disapprove of the job the president’s been doing, with a dismal 25% strongly approving.  That gives the president an approval index of -21, which is the lowest he’s recorded so far.

Congressional Dems take note:  The poll finds that this is mostly due to his health care plans.

Other Rasmussen findings?  Over half of us have yet to finish our Christmas shopping.

Get on the ball, people!

Alabama Democrat Parker Griffith has jumped ship, costing Nancy Pelosi a seat without a single vote being cast.

According to the Representative:

“I have always considered myself to be an independent voice and I have tried to be that voice in Congress – but after watching this agenda firsthand I now believe that the differences in the two parties could not be more clear and that for me to be true to my core beliefs and values I must align myself with the Republican party and speak out clearly on these issues. ”

Now, the Dems will tell you that this is no big deal – that Griffith’s voting record made him a de facto Republican long ago.  That said, his defection is owed almost entirely to the health care bill, and the ear full he received from his constituents last summer.

“I want to make it perfectly clear that his bill is bad for our doctors, our patients and will have unintended consequences far beyond what we know today,” Griffith said.   “As a doctor and as a Republican, I plan to once again oppose this measure and hope that we can defeat this bill that is a major threat to our nation.”

So the Democrats claim not to care about the defection.  Griffith had no intention of voting for Obamacare, so it’s nothing to get worked up about.

Privately, however, you can bet they’re worried.  The cracks are beginning to show as their party weakens.  This switch is just the first sign of a deeper problem facing the Democrats.

Will it escalate fast enough to stop health care?  It’s doubtful, but you never know.

Remember, they may not admit it, but Parker Griffith’s defection stands as evidence.  However much they try to ignore the noise, these people are still beholden to the voters.

So keep up the pressure.  2010 is going to be a wild ride.

Congratulations to the Democrats who, with this speech, and the Senator’s subsequent lie, have sunk to a remarkable new low.

The tirades and transparent lies are doing wonders for your party, Dems.  Please, keep them up so you’ll lose even more seats in November.

As for Senator Whitehouse, no wonder the East Coast was hit with such a blizzard. It has the world’s stupidest, most enormous, CO2 producing gasbag right there in Rhode Island.

Pro-Life, Conservative Democrat? No Such Thing.

reid_gun

So, last night Harry Reid got his way.  While you were sleeping, the Senate passed the ridiculous train wreck that Democrats have dubbed “health care reform.”

Now, unlike the Democrats, I’ll be honest with you.  Abortion’s not really my issue.  I’m far more interested in things like State’s Rights, Globalism, Sovereignty, Taxation, etc.  A quick look around the site, and you’ll see that I’ve never really mentioned abortion before.

The only reason I bring it up today is to point out a simple fact.  Everyone who bought into the lie of the “conservative, pro-life Democrat” should now be aware of the truth.

There’s no such thing.

As of last night’s cloture vote, Ben Nelson’s anti-abortion hemming and hawing, along with Harry Reid’s career-long pro-life posturing, amount to jack squat.  Conservative Democrats are, as they’ve always been, Democrats first, conservative a warped and distant second.

On Christmas eve, while you’re enjoying a meal with your family, cocktails by the tree, or presents with the kids, the Senate will be passing a law that will raise your taxes, confiscate your money, and use it to pay for abortions.

If you’re staunchly pro-life, tough.  If your religion forbids it?  Oh well.  You’re paying for it.

One of the Democrat party’s greatest lies, that they’re a “big tent” party, has just been exposed for the utter B.S. that it really is.

A gaggle of cowards, willing to submit at the first sign of Rahm Emmanuel’s threats?  Yes.

A bunch of drones, ignoring the wishes of the American people while they march lock-step over the cliff of fascism?  Absolutely.

grayson_41522

Crackpot Democrat, Representative Alan Grayson, has threatened to jail one of his critics.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Grayson is incensed by a website called “mycongressmanisnuts.com.”  The parody site enjoys calling out the Democrat whenever he indulges himself with one of his loony rants or childish behavior.  Eventually, the site caught the attention of Grayson himself, who has apparently decided that the best course of action is to prove his detractor’s point.

So, he’s threatening the website’s owner with jail time.

His specific complaint?  Grayson is accusing Angie Langley, who operates the site, of living outside of his district.  Therefore, he says, he is not technically “My Congressman” as the site states.

“Ms. Langley has deliberately masqueraded as a constituent of mine, in order to try to create the false appearance that she speaks for constituents who don’t support me,” Grayson wrote. “And has chosen a name for her committee that is utterly tasteless and juvenile.”

Apparently, the highly intelligent, not crazy congressman has figured out that “mycongressmanisnuts.com” is a joke based on his own website “congressmanwithguts.com.”

Let’s just say he’s ticked off about it.  In fact, he’s so mad that he’s asked Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate the matter, and has asked that Ms. Langley be “imprisoned for five years.”

Grayson has refused to comment on the matter, but has confirmed the content of the letter.

I wonder if Holder will bring her to New York for the trial?

nelsoncash

According to just about every source on the net, Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska, the final Democrat holdout in the health care debacle, has caved.  He will now be supporting the Senate “Health Care Reform” bill.  That gives Harry Reid his 60 votes and, barring major changes before the final vote, likely ensures passage.

What caused the turnaround?  A payoff, of course.  Nelson had been seeking stricter rules regarding federally funded abortions, but it seems that what really tipped the scales was an undisclosed amount of money for his state.  As the Washington Post put it:

“Nelson told reporters late Friday that he remained dissatisfied with abortion-related language in the $848 billion bill. But he is also seeking changes to benefit his home state”

So, knowing that it costs $100 Million to purchase a vote in the house, one can only guess the going rate of a much more valuable vote in the Senate.  This morning at 10 A.M., Nelson issued a statement, saying: “I truly believe this legislation will stand the test of time…the lives of millions of Americans will be improved.”

Apparently all of those millions live in Nebraska, as HotAir just posted the following, which now appears in the new bill:

(b) with respect to all or any portion of a fiscal year that begins on or after January 1, 2017, for the State of Nebraska, with respect to amounts expended for newly eligible individuals described in subclause (VIII) of section 1902(a)(10)(A)(i), shall be determined as provided for under subsection (y)(1) (A)

In other words, over the next three years, Ben Nelson’s state will get hundreds of millions of federal dollars.  After that, they’re trapped on the same sinking ship with the rest of us.  Several sites are speculating that Nebraska will be receiving around $300 million for Nelson’s support, but we won’t know the exact amount until we can read the entire bill. Knowing how the oh-so-transparent Democrats operate, will be sometime after it becomes law.

With Nelson on board, the Politico is reporting that the rest of the week looks like this:

–SATURDAY, DEC 19th — 7:20 am – Final passage on DoD approps bill. Note: After the DoD bill is dispensed with, Leader Reid can file cloture on the manager’s amendment, the substitute amendment and the overall bill on health care.
–SUNDAY, DEC 20th — Wait for cloture to ripen
–MONDAY, DEC 21st — 1 am – Cloture vote on manager’s amendment
–TUESDAY, DEC 22nd –7 am – Cloture vote on substitute
–WEDNESDAY, DEC 23rd — 1 pm — Cloture vote on overall bill
–THURSDAY, CHRISTMAS EVE — 7 pm – Final passage vote on health care reform

Nelson claims that if substantial changes are made between now and Thursday, he reserves the right to vote against the bill.  Of course, if we go by precedent, Reid can always just write him another check and lapdog Nelson will heel.

So congratulations to Nelson.  The vote you’ve sold will pass a piece of legislation that places a federal cap on the amount of profit a private U.S. corporation can make.  Last year for Christmas, the Democrats gave us the least popular first year President in history.  This year they’ve given us the legal framework to dismantle capitalism, since the Reid bill will cap profits at 20%.  I wonder how long it will be before Pelosi and Reid try to apply that precedent to other industries?

Hopefully, under next year’s tree, we’ll find a conservative-controlled Congress that can clean up this mess.

UPDATE:  In section 1303, we find that the Bill requires annual passage of the abortion language.  If Congress fails to renew it, even once,  federal funds will pay for abortion.  Nelson is aware of this, so we now know that all of his posturing was really about the cash, since he’s just promised to vote for a bill that Dems can easily alter after the fact.  Bravo, Nelson, you truly are an utterly spineless sellout…

Looks like, as usual,  Charles Krauthammer called it….

090314_1

In a segment on Fox News this evening, Shepard Smith made a comment about the Detroit school system that has “ignited” a wave of completely phony outrage.

Here’s the Fox2 Detroit newscast regarding the matter:

If you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time, you know that Detroit is my hometown.  I was born here, and I grew up around the city.  Let me tell you, Smith didn’t say anything that nearly every person who lives in the area hasn’t said a hundred times.

Yes, it’s a town that’s fiercely proud of its heritage, but it’s also frighteningly defensive if anyone outside its borders should dare to point out the decades-long decline.  Add to that a palpable and, at times, volatile racial component, and you have a city that tends to lash out when anyone on the national or regional stage paints a less than rosy picture of the place.

Detroit is generally its own worst enemy.  It’s been plagued with mayors whose criminal activities, both rumored and proven, have been widely documented.  It boasts a city council that for years was made up of egomaniacs who beg the town for giftsembarrasing tax cheats, and bribe taking criminals.  Don’t even get me started on Barbara Rose Collins….

Despite a brief glimmer of hope from Dennis Archer, from the 60’s up until a few years ago, Detroit was a town run by a crooked city council, crooked mayors (one of which is still in court on a regular basis), and was populated by an electorate that vehemently refused to learn its lesson.  Want to argue the point?  OK.  The city voted to elect Coleman A. Young four times, Gennifer Granholm and Kwame Kilpatrick twice.  Argument over.

As far as Shepard Smith’s comment goes, well here’s the thing.  We won’t admit it to an outsider, but when it’s just us?  When we know we’re alone?  We tend to revel in the decay.  Sure, we wish things were different, but there’s an undeniable sense of irony about the colapse.

guys_217_m4detroit-dangerdetroit-strong

We’re talking about a city where t-shirts bearing the phrase ”Detroit: Where The Weak Are Killed And Eaten” line store shelves and faux pride is taken in our “most dangerous city” status.  Detroiters buy, and greatly enjoy, books of quotations from Coleman A. Young and Kwame Kilpatrick.   City dwellers and suburbanites alike pass around this Youtube clip of the city council with a mixture of horror and self-depricating amusement.

Finally, and maybe most relevant to Smith’s comments, during the 80’s, the holiday known as “Devil’s Night” became synonymous with arsonists setting fire to homes, businesses, and vacant eyesores.  In fact, the annual October 30th blaze became so widespread that the city renamed the day “Angel’s Night” and has spent millions in an effort to eradicate the fires.  Largely it’s worked.  Still, each year, like clockwork, local newscasts offer an almost folkloric account of the old days and salivate as they ask the question, “Will this be the year the fires return?”

The bemused fascination with living in our own little train wreck is so pervasive, that we just take it as a given.

So you’ll have to forgive me if I find the uproar over Shepard Smith’s “burn it down” remark to be little more than posturing nonsense.  It’s a nice, quick topic for the evening news, something worth an hour on local talk radio, but not much more.

Make no mistake, we love our town.  We love the music, the food, the people, and the history.  Detroiters are trying, but they’re also painfully aware of how bad things really are, and the knowledge has lead to a dark sense of humor.   Maybe, if people here would spend as much time yelling at their politicians as they do shouting about Smith, we’d all be better off.

You think the media has portrayed Detroit unfairly?  Sorry.  For the most part, it hasn’t.

Screaming at Fox News makes you feel better?  Fine.  Just try to remember your oh-so-sincere outrage the next time you’re the one making the jokes.

Yesterday, President Obama said “the federal government will go bankrupt” if a sweeping, trillion dollar health care bill isn’t passed. “Health care costs,” he claims, “Are going to consume the entire federal budget.”

We’ve heard comments like this before.  Half scare tactic, half threat, they usually come right about the time it looks like Barry may not get his way.  The trillion dollar bailout is exhibit A.  When its passage was in doubt, Obama told us that we might see unemployment rates as high as eight percent if it didn’t go through.  Every one got frightened, the bill passed, and now unemployment’s at ten percent.  Aren’t you glad everything worked out.

This time, his scare tactic isn’t having the same impact.  Most pundits discredited the comment immediately, and the statement has been less of an asset, more of a liability.

It doesn’t help that in the 24 hours since he made the comment, Congress has passed a 1.1 Trillion Dollar spending package, a 155 Billion Dollar “jobs” initiative, and raised the debt ceiling by 300 Billion Dollars – some of which will be used to cover the fact that Democrats had already exceeded the previous limit.

Obama has already signed $1.1 Trillion of the new spending and will sign the debt limit increase once it goes through the Senate, where it is expected to pass easily.

So, Mr. President, forgive us for doubting your claim that it’s health care that’s pushing us over the bankruptcy cliff.

From where the American people are standing, it looks an awful lot like your doing.
